With the world today, more and more individuals are seeking out the services of a mental health professional to help them out. But how exactly does one go about finding the “perfect therapist?” Do we ask friends and family for referrals? Do we go through our insurance company? Do you do a Google search on “therapists” and randomly call people? This article discusses how one man created an app that will help someone find their ideal match in a therapist. The app has the potential client create a profile, and it asks the therapist to do the same. Then it creates a “match” between the two based on different criteria.Of course, the app is not fool proof. And you may be matched with someone who is the perfect fit for you based on their background and training. But their office might be really far away. Or they might only have availability in the middle of the day, when you’re at work. Or their voice might sound like nails on a chalkboard. Listen to your gut. If it doesn’t feel like a good fit, that’s okay. Not every therapist is the best fit for everyone. You ultimately have the say in what is best for you.
