Katie grew up in Atlanta and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. She also earned a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her past employment includes providing assessments and counseling for inpatient programs for mental illness. She also completed an internship, where she assessed victims of sexual assault. Since 2013, Katie has worked as an integral member of the Peachtree DBT team. She implements DBT-C and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction skills into her clients’ treatment plans. She also is trained in biofeedback, a modality commonly used for anxiety symptoms. Katie’s approach to treatment includes integrating mindfulness regularly, showing compassion and non-judgment in treatment so clients feel comfortable, and assisting clients to develop insight into maladaptive behaviors that need change. Katie practices DBT because it can provide people from all walks of life with the skills to establish balance, stability, peace, and joy in their lives.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys going for walks with her family and dog. Her favorite Friday night is spent on a lawn, eating pizza and listening to live music with her friends and family.
