Melissa is a licensed professional counselor and foundationally-trained DBT therapist, who provides therapy, skills training and treatment consultation. Melissa works with older adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation, and personality disorders. She has a special interest in treating clients in the LGBT community with concerns regarding gender identity and sexuality.

Melissa is from Richmond, Virginia and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia. Additionally, she earned a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor and is active in many professional organizations. Her past employment includes working in a residential treatment facility for ten years before coming to Peachtree DBT in 2019.

Melissa integrates DBT skills into therapy and also provides skills in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Treatments in order to empower individuals to heal, grow and thrive. She hopes to create an environment for her clients to explore issues, find relief and reach their potential. Melissa enjoys working with families and parents in strengthening relationships, improving communication, and creating a supportive and loving environment.

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys food, exploring new places in Atlanta, and taking a good hike outdoors. She loves animals of all kinds.
