Vinitha is a licensed professional counselor and intensively trained DBT therapist, who provides individual therapy, skills training and treatment consultation. She is interested in helping those dealing with trauma and women’s issues. She also enjoys working with adolescents and adults, who struggle with depression and anxiety. Vinitha is trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and Biofeedback, both commonly used treatment modalities for trauma and anxiety disorders. She integrates these modalities with behavioral skills training to effectively treat symptoms of depression, anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder.
Vinitha grew up in Arkansas and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Agnes Scott College. She earned her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Argosy University. For many years, she counseled patients who were receiving inpatient treatment for mental illness. In 2012, she joined Peachtree DBT, where she continues to be an integral part of our DBT team. Vinitha is an active member of the Georgia Licensed Professional Counselors Association.
Vinitha’s primary approach to therapy is to build strong rapport with clients, assist them in becoming comfortable with treatment and the therapeutic process, and help them identify and change maladaptive behavior and thought patterns.
In her spare time, Vinitha is a diehard Atlanta sports fan and regularly attends the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons games and events. She also enjoys family time and trying out new Atlanta restaurants.
