Douglas Chan, MD

Dr. Douglas Chan is a psychiatrist board eligible in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and joined Peachtree Psychiatric Professionals in the summer of 2023. Dr. Chan specializes in ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. In addition to using a biopsychosocial model, he incorporates psychotherapy with medication to best treat his patients. Dr. Chan also has experience in treating psychosis, eating disorders, school-based health, juvenile detention, substance use disorders, and emergency psychiatry. 

Dr. Chan is from Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Exercise Physiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 2018. He completed general psychiatric residency and his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of New Mexico, where his wife, also a physician, was completing residency. During his training, he served as chief fellow of his child and adolescent residency. He greatly enjoyed teaching medical students and residents. Dr. Chan has published in the areas of metabolic syndrome in young adults and assessing wrist circumference as a predictor of waist circumference of metabolic dysfunction in adolescents and young adults living with obesity. 

Dr. Chan is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In his free time, he enjoys being a foodie and writing various food reviews. He and his wife are excited about the culinary scene in Atlanta. They enjoy spoiling their dog Luna, a corgi poodle mix they adopted during COVID. Luna loves fetching balls, frisbees, and taking long naps.
