Couples and Family Therapy

Couples and Family therapy are types of counseling aimed to help family members and couples reduce conflict and improve communication.

There are many driving forces that lead families to seek family therapy. The impact of having a family member suffer from mental illness or substance use can be a significant stressor for loved ones. When families face challenging times (e.g., financial crisis, divorce, or health issues), family therapy can teach family members skills to address and reduce anger, grief, or blame and help family members reach a place of understanding and supporting each other. Family therapy aims to improve communication skills and strengthen healthy boundaries and limits within the family system.

In couples therapy, the therapist helps the couples not only strengthen communication skills and healthy roles within the partnership but also resolve conflict effectively to restore happiness in the relationship. In addition, our therapists will address intimacy and infidelity issues to improve trust while facilitating positive change in the relationship.
