Shelby Salisbury, APC
Shelby is a professional counselor and DBT therapist who provides individual and group therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults. She has experience working with individuals who struggle with depression, generalized anxiety, children and families of divorce or going through divorce, and kids, teens, and young adults with big feelings or high sensitivity.
Shelby grew up in Atlanta and received her undergraduate degree in Education in Youth Advocacy and Educational Studies at Texas Christian University. She then went on to obtain her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling at the University of Georgia (go dawgs!). Prior to joining Peachtree Comprehensive Health, Shelby worked at the Alliance for Children, a nonprofit children’s advocacy center, and Families First, a nonprofit which provides counseling services for uninsured families. As a UGA alum, Shelby completed her practicum and internship experience at the Center for Counseling and Personal Evaluation, serving college students as well as the greater Athens community. She has facilitated counseling groups at Clarke Central High School focused on anxiety support.
Shelby uses a holistic and relational approach to counseling, placing an emphasis on the counseling relationship because she believes most suffering happens when people are feeling alone. Using a holistic lens allows for all areas of life to be explored and worked on so that clients can lead a more balanced lifestyle. She aims to create a safe space to help clients feel supported and challenged so that they can feel the most fulfilled in their lives.
In her free time, you can find Shelby taking her dog, Remi, for long walks or runs. She is also an avid reader, with her 2024 goal being to read 75 books. When she’s not hanging with Remi or reading the newest best selling novel, she’s crushing her opponents in any board or card game she can.
Shelby is currently under the supervision of Dr. Kimberly Vay, LPC, CPCS and Dr. Steven Littrell, LPC, CPCS.
