Dr. Silva is a bilingual (Spanish/English) licensed psychologist from Miami, Florida. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., majoring in psychology and Spanish, and her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Silva has been employed in outpatient and inpatient settings, ranging from community mental health centers to forensic and psychiatric hospitals. In her various roles, she has conducted psychological, psychoeducational, and forensic assessments, including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and immigration evaluations, and provided individual, couples, and group therapy, primarily to adolescents and adults. Dr. Silva has also been employed by the Department of Justice, developing policies and programming for vulnerable populations within the federal prison system.

Dr. Silva’s clinical and research interests have largely focused on underserved and marginalized communities, including racial and ethnic underrepresented groups, the LGBTQ community, individuals involved in the criminal justice system, and survivors of trauma, specifically survivors of abuse and commercial sexual exploitation. Currently, at Peachtree Psychiatric Professionals, Dr. Silva is involved in program development for the new Trauma and Anxiety Disorders Clinic, provides therapy services, and conducts psychological and forensic assessments.

Dr. Silva’s approach to therapy can be best described as eclectic, as she combines therapeutic modalities to best fit her clients’ individual needs, mainly applying cognitive behavioral and interpersonal techniques. She prioritizes the therapeutic relationship as an instrument for change and strives to facilitate insight-building and action in her clients, viewing therapy as a collaboration. Dr. Silva is also involved in several professional organizations, including Emory School of Medicine’s Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee (DISC), Atlanta Behavioral Health Advocates (ABHA), and the National Latinx Psychological Association (NLPA).

In her down time, Dr. Silva enjoys spending time with her family and friends, venturing outdoors, exploring new places, and practicing self-care through dance. She is thrilled to be a part of the PPP team and to have the opportunity to serve the larger Atlanta community.
