Dr. Henkel is a board certified psychiatrist who treats children, adolescents and adults, who struggle with psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Dr. Henkel’s approach to treatment is collaborative with parents, teachers and other treating clinicians. She utilizes a comprehensive biological, psychological and social/environmental approach to patient care. Dr. Henkel joined Peachtree Psychiatric Professionals in 2013.
Dr. Henkel is a native Atlantan and graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology in 1991. In 1996, she received her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, where she was awarded the John Templeton Award for Spirituality in Medicine. In 2001, she completed general psychiatric residency and child and adolescent fellowship training at Emory University School of Medicine, where she was chief resident. Following her residency and fellowship training, she practiced in an outpatient psychiatric clinic and worked for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for many years.
Dr. Henkel is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has additional board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry. She serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health for Emory University School of Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
In her spare time, she enjoys ceramics, woodworking and Bollywood films and music.
