Amy is a licensed professional counselor and certified professional counselor supervisor who provides individual therapy, parent coaching, family therapy, and treatment consultation. She is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and was a founding member of Peachtree Comprehensive Health’s Peachtree DBT team, whom she practiced with for over ten years, before transitioning to her role as a CBT therapist with Peachtree Cognitive Center. Amy primarily works with adults, parents, and families and specializes in anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation, disordered eating, and personality disorders.

Amy was raised in Atlanta and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Georgia. She then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling at Georgia State University. While in school, she participated in research for emotional regulation and communication of emotions to parents. This sparked Amy’s interest in supporting couples, families, and parents in strengthening their skills in communication and building stronger relationships. Amy’s past employment experience includes inpatient treatment case management and assessment. She is involved with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and Family to Family. She is a member of local and national professional organizations, including LPCA-GA.

Amy practiced as a clinician at Peachtree DBT since it was founded in 2011 until she transitioned to Peachtree Cognitive Center in 2022. The transition allowed Amy to focus her efforts on disordered eating and in the creation of Cease to Crave, a multi-modal program focused on the behaviors of eating and ending the vicious cycle of dieting.

Due to her passion for teaching and helping others, Amy has presented in various venues and training workshops to mental health professionals, schools, families, and members of the community. She created the continuing education program at Peachtree DBT that provides professional trainings to professionals and students interested in DBT. In July of 2018, Amy pursued training in clinical supervision to assist other therapists and offers clinical supervision to new clinicians within the field.

Amy’s special clinical interests include treating patients with personality disorders, disordered eating, anxiety, and depression. She specializes in treating clients who are struggling with life transitions. She has a direct approach to treatment and integrates cognitive therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness skills to “assist in building mastery to live the life you want to live.”

Outside of work, Amy values spending time with her family and friends. She is an Atlanta food scene enthusiast and enjoys pilates in her free time (when she gets it!). She is an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and spends many fall weekends in Athens watching football.
