Nissa White, APC

Nissa is a professional counselor and intensively trained DBT therapist, who provides individual and group therapy for patients struggling with anxiety, mood disorders and executive functioning issues. She enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults. She is also trained in rehabilitation counseling and integrates educational rehabilitation and work rehabilitation into her treatment planning through coaching. She integrates these modalities with behavioral skills training in order to provide effective treatment for her patients. 

Nissa grew up in Toccoa, Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Kennesaw State University. She earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at Mercer University. Her prior work experience includes completing an internship at Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency and working as an elementary program coordinator for four years. She also worked for a nonprofit agency for four years as an executive assistant. In 2020, she joined Peachtree DBT, where she continues to be an integral part of our Intensive Outpatient DBT Program for adolescents, and she is also a regular member of our DBT team. Nissa is a member of Georgia’s Licensed Professional Counselors Association and Chi Sigma Iota (International Honors Society). 

Nissa has presented for the National Council on Rehabilitation Education on Chronic Pain, Trauma, and Veterans, and How Animal Assisted Therapy Impacts Psychosocial Adjustment to Chronic Pain. She also has presented on other topics, such as Comparing Western and Asian Millennial Attitudes Towards Social Media.

Nissa’s primary approach to therapy is to provide a safe space for children, adolescents and adults to address life’s obstacles through a holistic approach and integrating behavioral skills for effective treatment. 

In her spare time, Nissa enjoys reading, playing board games with friends, spending time on her family farm, and being in the great outdoors.
